These were my great grandfather's, who was a constable in Douglasville, Texas in the mid 1930s.
The "Improved Bean Handcuff" was patented by Lyman Cobb in 1899, and featured a serviceable locking mechanism. These cuffs are in great antique vintage condition, with some loss of the original nickel plating as seen in the photos. There is no key. The actual condition of the lock mechanisms is unknown without the key. The cuffs are not marked, which is typical of the earlier production Bean Cobb cuffs. Please note 1899 designates the patent year, not necessarily the year of manufacture.
