- For your consideration is an outstanding tea caddy container, an example of the finest British 18th century enamel ware
- Finest hand painted enamels over copper
- Cobalt Blue ground with scenic medallions - a dockside maritime scene with ships up front, flowers on the opposite side and Peacock birds on the short sides
- Original lid is retained, displaying the peacock motif again, alongside two floral panels
- Characteristic portrayal and foliate borders and ornamentation, in Gold and White
- Tagged on underside by a previous collector or gallery
- English, from the Early to Mid 18th Century, circa 1700-1760
- This type of finely crafted enamelware is known colloquially as Battersea enamel, to distinguish it as a solely British production. However, pieces like this were produced in several places in England during the period, notably Bilston, Birmingham, Staffordshire, Midlands and the namesake London suburb of Battersea
- Measurements: Approx. 4.4" tall, 3.5" x 2.5" overall
- Weighs about 8 oz.
