Removed from recording studio equipment of the 1960's-1970s.
This transformer has identical windings on the primary and secondary. (see diagrams in the photo section.)
Actually, you'll find that is has four (4) identical separate windings: Two on the primary and two on the secondary.
This makes these units well-suited for 1:1 isolation, or 1:2 set-up, or 2:1 step-down application (or any combination in-between).
These units were previously used in a 1:1 configuration; with the Center-Taps joined, using the full windings.
This transformer provides a very flat frequency response.
These must have been among the finest audio transformers that ADC produced at the time.
- They have the unique specification: +/- 0.5dB 30Hz-15kHz.
- It is rated at +16 dBm maximum level,
These specs seem to be very conservative:
- One random unit, tested in the 1:1, full-winding mode mentioned above, and the secondary loaded with 600 ohms,
- This test unit measured +/- 0.5dB from well below 10Hz to over 25kHz.
