Offered here is a LOT of 5x WWII British SMLE rifle Pattern 1907 bayonet leather scabbard bodies ONLY. Bayonets are NOT included. Lockets, frog studs and chapes are NOT included. We think these will also fit the British Pattern 1913 bayonets and US Model 1917 bayonets as well.
To prevent the Germans from knowing the manufacturers, codes were used. These are marked "M/44" which was short for the subcontractor company "J.B. Brooks & Co. Ltd. Birmingham".
The leather bodies are in Good - Very Good condition, considering their age and history. There are no rips or tears and the stitching is sewn tightly along the seams. The leather is hard and durable. There are light draglines and scrapes, plus some scattered discoloration. They are a little bit gritty. Most of the original finish remains.
All five leather bodies have markings, some are hard to read, but this is our best guestimation. The five each have "M/44 J.B.B.". Four are marked "43" (1943) and one is marked "45" (1945).
These will be great to restore your damaged bayonet scabbards, or great replacements for a future project. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards. Please see our photographs for a better understanding of the contents and its condition.
