Group of 17 4"x6" photos showing the Kansas City Southern Railway's buildings at Horatio, Arkansas. Photos include the Section House (2 views), a Barn, Building #11, Building #17, the Chicken House, Building #18, the Section Car House, the Coal House, the Depot Water Closet, Freight Shed #2 & #1, Buildings #14 & #15, the Stock Pens, 2 views of the water supply Tank and building #18 the "Water Closet Horatio Pit".

These are new prints from a scan of an original 4"x5" negative that was once part of the internal files of the KCS. They were part of a project to document every structure on the railroad around 1925. The negatives were disposed of by the KCS in the 1960's or 1970's and were saved by a long time KCS employee. I acquired the negatives from his estate and am working to scan them and have prints made to preserve the images. The negatives are all nitro cellulose film and are in various stages of degradation and all will eventually turn to dust, some have already fused into solid bricks or become so brittle that they disintegrate when touched.

To my knowledge, most of these photos have never been seen outside the Kansas City Southern and have never been published.
