These housings are subject to breakage for several reasons.
It is common for the original design to crack under the weight of the transfer case just hanging off the back with no support. 
 When replacing always check U-Joints carefully a common cause of failure. 
Also shifting into park when not fully stopped can cause breakage.  
These are brand new Mopar updated housings.
