In late years he became the 95th president of the National Press Club and received the Ted Yates Award from the Washington D.C. Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. This award is reserved for the individual who has demonstrated outstanding professional and personal qualities in their contribution to Capital Region television news and public affairs. He was a reporter for Maryland Public Television starting in 1996. He died at age 57 from lung cancer on June 23, 2003.
