Echinodorus bleheri is therefore ideally placed in the rear sections of the aquarium as a background plant. The leaves are sturdy and can vary from light to dark green colours. The sturdy leaves mean it's ideal for larger fish keeping or one's who like to nibble on plants. As one of the hardiest plants around, it makes a perfect beginner plant or for larger aquariums. It is a hardy and easy solitary plant for both beginners and the more experienced with quite large aquariums. It has been sold under the name ''Paniculatus''. Echinodorus bleheri does well even in poorly illuminated aquariums, as it grows towards the light. A nutritious bottom promotes growth, but the plant needs pruning to prevent it depriving plants underneath of light.
