Originating from all over South America, the Mystery Snail is very common in the aquarium hobby. Most Mystery Snails are captive-bred these days. They are very easy to breed and if your water parameters are right, they will lay eggs and eventually those eggs will hatch. And if you think that is a bad thing, think again ... more Mystery Snails, more algae that will be consumed from your aquarium. Now, if you have a heavily planted aquarium, i would suggest checking out some of our other snails which won't breed in freshwater and are best suitable for planted tanks. These snails are extremely hardy and live in a vast variety of water parameters. Very slow moving gastropods, always hungry and that will grown in a heart-beat.

    Please keep in mind that Live Arrival Guarantee will only guarantee that your snails will be alive and healthy upon arrival. We don't guarantee that you will be successful at keeping them and this is because of the fact that your aquarium might not have the perfect environment to keep this species. If there are any issues upon arrival, simply send us a message and we will take care of you - a refund or a replacement will be provided, whichever is best for you.

 

  • DOA: If you receive anything but a healthy snail, take 2 or 3 pictures in its unopened sealed bag and get in contact with us within 4 hours of the arrival of the package. We will get back to you after we've successfully examined the snail. If the snail is indeed dead, we will gladly send you a replacement or we'll refund you if the item is no longer in stock. Upon receiving your snails, you may notice that they aren't moving. This is normal! When snails are shipped they become very stressed and their method of defense is to retrieve their bodies into the shell. Put them in your aquarium and wait a couple of hours. They should adjust and start working right away!

 

  • Shipping: Shipped via USPS or UPS - All our snails are packed in heat sealed durable plastic bags. They are packed with enough water to be comfortable and plenty of oxygen that lasts up to 2 weeks. They are then wrapped around in bubble wrap or newspaper, and put in durable boxes to prevent them from getting crushed. Our Shipping days for snails are Monday through Wednesday - orders placed on Wednesday after 7 a.m. (EST) will be shipped next Monday. This is done to avoid your snails getting stuck at a USPS facility over the weekend.
