With age, or by accidentally stepping on the iBR/Reverse system on the back of your SeaDoo watercraft, there is a very good chance that the internal plastic gear that shifts your bucket up and down will strip out inside the actuator. This will leave the bucket in a 'sagged' position. Symptoms that this has happened are:
- The ski doesn't move (stuck in neutral)
- The iBR bucket can be freely moved up and down by hand (a plastic grinding noise can be heard)
- You have the following codes:
C2101 - Actuator Movement Warning
C2102 - Actuator Movement
Normally, the ENTIRE actuator would have to be replaced because it is a 'non-serviceable part'. However, if you would like to save yourself about $500, you can carefully take apart the top half of the actuator, replace the worn out plastic gear with this upgraded brass version, and then reseal the unit with black silicone gasket maker. This gear has been field tested on a ski with 700+ hours, and it works perfectly. If you have any questions, PLEASE reach out to me first before purchasing. I am very responsive and happy to help!
***DISCLAIMER***
This gear may have to be 'worked' onto the threaded rod inside of the actuator. What I mean by this is that there may by burrs inside the brass gear that need to be worked out. To do this, thread the brass gear on by hand. And by using grease or oil, work the gear back and fourth up and down the rod until the gear can be very easily threaded on by spinning it by hand.
Also, an iBR re-calibrate may be required. A dealer can do this for you if you do not have a personal scanner.
