Properties of FPM/FKM (Fluoroelastomer, comparable to Viton®)
Fluoroelastomers have become increasingly important in the sealing industry. Due to their wide scope of application regarding chemical resistance, temperature range, low compression set and excellent aging properties, FPM/FKM is the most significant standalone elastomer developed in recent times. Fluoroelastomers are highly fluorinated carbon-based polymers that resist harsh chemical attacks and ozone in various applications. The operating temperature is between -20°C/-4°F and +204°C/+400°F, and temporarily higher.
Fluoroelastomer o-rings should be considered for use in aircraft, automobiles and other mechanical equipment where maximum resistance to high temperatures and many fluids is required. FPM/FKM resists mineral oils and lubricants, aliphatic, aromatic and also special chlorinated hydrocarbons, gasoline, diesel fuels, silicone oils and lubricants. It can be used in high vacuum applications.

We receive weekly shipments from our manufacturers and are happy to provide you with a custom quote for almost any o-ring material and any o-ring size. Additionally we offer all types of different CNC-machined seals such as rod seals, piston seals, flat seals, guide seals and wiper seals in several different profiles.
We can supply you with the following o-ring materials: Viton® / FPM / FKM (Fluoroelastomer), FFPM (Perfluorelastomer), NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber), HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber), SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber), EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer Rubber), MVQ (Methyl Vinyl Silicone) and AU (Polyurethane). All of these are available in a wide range of Shore A hardness and in any standardized size. Custom sized o-rings can also be produced if needed.
Furthermore we offer a wide variety of rod seals, piston seals and flat seals (that we use ourselves in our automotive branch). All of these seals are CNC-machined to our specification in Germany within tolerance class DIN ISO 2768-1-m or better to ensure a high level of accuracy. The production of custom seals on CNC machines not only provides very fast production and turnaround times, but it also allows for small minimum order quantities and makes production on a smaller scale financially viable.
