2 NEW Motorola NTN1667A Battery Charger Sets NTN8831A base + EPNN5751A ACAdaptor (#126393027811)

Notes on  Listing Title:

2 NEW Motorola NTN1667A Battery Charger Sets means that we are selling these new in original box complete sets in "lots" of two, and that "NTN1667A" is an overall number for each set that you won't find on any single component within the set.  Buy one "lot", get two complete setups consisting of the charger base plus the matching AC adapter, and documents, all as shown in the listing photos.  All new, each packed separately in a shipping quality ECT 32 rated fold-lock-top cardboard box, with the Motorola-branded label "NTN1667A" appearing on each box.

Note that each "set" (2 sets to each "lot") is a single setup.  So if you buy a single "lot", you get 2 "sets".  So when you see the pair of boxed sets in the listing photos, you're looking at a single "lot".  Buying 1 means you get 1 pair; it doesn't mean you get 2 pairs, i.e., 4 setups, per "lot".

Each set come in tuck-in-flap-closure style boxes.  They were never "sealed" by any other means.  So even though you will be seeing the contents of one such set -- meaning that I obviously opened the box -- it still counts as "New" for eBay purposes.  I did in fact open all the boxes I selected to make my initial volume buy of, to confirm that the contents in each box were the same as the contents in all the other boxes, precisely because these boxes had no "tape" or "glue" or other means of closure to confirm that they still had all of their original contents.  If and when I buy more, I will inspect those as well before buying them.

Depending on how many paired sets you buy, we will either ship pairs in a shipping weight plastic bag (the kind of packaging often used by that well known online retailer with the name that begins with "A" and ends with "n" -- we often get items from them shipped in a large paper or plastic bag containing one or more items, boxed or not, inside), or will ship pairs (typically in purchases of "2 lots = 4 boxed sets" or more) in a shipping box.  See next note about the labelling of each inner box you'll find inside each NTN1667A-labelled outer box, and be sure to also see the listing photos that show the outer box plus the inner box and contents.

Also:  I am selling these in "lots" of a pair of sets, for less than buying from at least one other listing will, by its highest "quantity discount", cost you to buy from:  $21.21 each only if you buy 4 or more at once.  Them:  $23.70 each if you buy 2 sets.= $47.40. $21.21 each = $84.84 to buy four sets.  Us:  $40 per pair = $40 for 2 sets; $80 for 4 sets. Same stuff as they have, lbut ess money if you buy from us  Buy from this listing, if you need more than 1 set, and save!

PS if these sell well, and fairly quickly, I may be able to get more than this listing shows as available to start:  3 pairs (6 sets).  That window may close within a week or less as my source might sell their remaining inventory to someone else before I can buy more.  They have I think at least 30 more new in box sets that I could buy, if I act quickly enough.  If I don't get more in time, I'll delete this paragraph from the listing as soon as I know.

NTN8831A base + EPNN5751A ACAdaptor means that inside each NTN1667A-labelled cardboard box containing one entire set, you'll find documentation for the set, plus 2 thin white boxes containing the components of the set.  One white box is labelled NTN8831A and contains a "charging base" with that same number on the bottom of the base.  The other white box
labelled EPNN5751A contains the accompanying AC adaptor, but here is where it gets complicated:  That number doesn't appear on the AC adaptor itself.  Instead the adaptor has two identifying numbers.  One is its "Part No.":  2504548T05.  The other is its "Model No.":  481810OO3NT.

And yes, if you look closely at the listing photos, you'll see that the "Part No." has what's clearly a number zero "0" right next to a pair of capital letter O's: "OO".  And finally, the reason there's no space between "AC" and "Adaptor" is because eBay limits sellers to a total of 80 "characters" -- including blank spaces -- when composing a listing title, and I didn't have enough "characters" left to insert that "missing" space into the title.

The reason why the number on the AC adaptor's white box doesn't match any number on the AC adaptor inside the box, is that the outer box number means "The adaptor inside this box is matched to the charger base for the region where this set NTN7767A charger set is to be sold". Photos 22-23 of the listing photos, showing some of the documentation found in each set's box, explains this; e.g. some regions require, for use with the charging base that is part of each set, an AC adapter that can plug into a 220VAC wall outlet.  And the AC adaptor provided with these sets is designed for use with standard USA 110-120 VAC.

I'm only going into all of this because I was initially surprised, after opening up a sample charging base and seeing that the number on it matched that of the white box it was packed in, and then opening up the white box packed with that charging base and seeing that the AC adaptor packed in its own white box had 2 different numbers on it, neither matching the number on the outside of that white box. A buyer might also be surprised when seeing this. But I am aware from personal experience that this is not all that rare a situation to run into, since I buy and sell all kinds of electronics, more than even a typical Motorola radio "end user" might.  And as explained in the above paragraph, the included AC adapter is the correct model to be used with the included charging base, on normal USA AC voltage.

COMPATIBLE PORTABLE RADIO MODELS (EXAMPLES ONLY, MORE MIGHT WORK WITH THESE):

One online vendor has this list of compatible Motorola radio models:
  • PR1500
  • XTS2500
  • XTS2250
  • XTS1500
Another online vendor has this list (it will overlap the above list; see "starred" items below) of compatible Motorola radio models:
  • XTS5000
  • XTS3000
  • XTS2500*
  • XTS2250*
  • XTS1500*
  • PR1500*
  • HT1000
  • MTS2000
As noted in the title of this section, these sets might work with other Motorola radio models than appear in the above lists.

So I'm pretty confident about the 4 models shown in both lists, and reasonably confident about the 4 models that only appear in the above list.  Please do conduct your own research, however, before purchasing these from us, unless you already know from personal experience that this setup will work correctly with the Motorola radios you'd intend that the sets you'd purchase from us are a correct match for the radios you'd use them with.  Please also read our return policy, further along in this listing's text.

One last point here:  There's an instruction book packed with each set that has various Motorola radio model numbers shown on it.  But if you look closely, you'll see that it is focused on the general characteristics of various Motorola radio models, not all of which would necessary be compatible with the charging setups we're selling there.  So please do not assume that the charging setups being sold here are compatible with each Motorola model number shown on that instruction book for radios (not specifically for charging setups).

SOURCE AND CONDITION:

Where I got them:

We obtain surplus items such as these charger sets from various sources.  When a company or agency no longer needs an item because they are no longer using other items they worked with -- such as these brand new boxed charging setups, and the likely pre-digital handheld radios they were designed to work with -- surplus items like this are sold off to offset the "loss" involved in having items on hand that are no longer to be used.  Items I buy can be used or, as in this case, new and unused.  That's where I come in: I buy surplus stocks to then resell them, such as on eBay.  And I store them protected from the elements, pending sale.

Why I now have them:

It doesn't surprise me that I found all these never used Motorola radio charging setups, which in this case are date-stamped "2006" (I've seen other identical items on eBay with a date on their boxes of "2008").  The radios these were originally to be used with were, based on those mid-2000's dates, almost certainly "analog" radios.  And I wasn't shown any surplus radios, probably because they'd already been replaced by more current models.

That doesn't necessarily mean that these chargers would only work with "analog" radios and not with the currently typically "digital" radios in wide use.  The point here is that there's no surprise that I was given the opportunity to buy these charger setups, because I've seen Motorola handheld professional radios and they are often pretty beat up looking if they're this old or anything close to this old.

This is because radios like this would typically be used by the police and sheriffs, and by maintenance people working out "in the field".  As such they'd be exposed to the elements, while the charging bases would typically be left on tables and desks in indoor offices -- and many chargers would have stayed stored in dry conditions, never used, as these obviously were.  Since it would be likely that each radio, at least in initial orders, would be accompanied by a charging base, the bases that were in use would often last much longer than the radios.  So there would in the long run have been no need, while the radios that originally would been paired with chargers, to keep bringing out of storage another charging setup every time a radio was "retired", since a new radio could be used with older chargers.

I've seen well-used Motorola handheld professional radios, e.g. in a large purchase I made of Motorola radios that were in use by a major hotel located in downtown San Francisco, that had just switched from "analog" radios to "digital" ones.  All the chargers were in good condition and working, while the condition of the radios (not referring to their batteries here) varied from "pretty good" to "Toast!"  So these, as never-used charging setups, are all in new, unused condition, because they never needed to be used and are now surplus to the ongoing needs of the agency I got them from.

PHOTO NOTES:

No "stock photos" are used here. These are all photos of actual items I have available.  They show one box with its contents displayed, and another boxed set still closed, to emphasize that we are selling these in lots, 2 charging setups at a time.

Photos 1-3 are "overall" photos of the contents of one box, showing another box in the background.  Photo 1 shows a white background rather than a gray one as seen in Photos 2, 3, and all the rest showing on this listing, because I used a photo tool on Photo #1 provided by ebay to remove a lot of "clutter" from the photo, especially at the outside edges.  I was able to take Photos 2 and 3, each essentially showing a close up view of half of what's shown in Photo 1, at a closer distance, so did not need to use that decluttering tool.  I mention this because someone might think that Photo 1 is a "stock photo" because it looks so different in general than all the other listing photos do, but it isn't one of those.

Photos 4-8 emphasize the charging base.

Photos 9-13 emphasize the AC adapter.

Photos 14-21 show the boxes and various components.  These include 2 small plastic items each in their own bag.  I know from personal experience using similar Motorola chargers that at least one of those, looking like a small black plastic strip, is intended to be installed in the charger base to allow certain smaller Motorola radios to positively "sit" in a way to make good contact with the charging terminals in the base; when using a larger type radio, that part is left out as not needed.  I don't know what the larger plastic part, in its own bag, is for.  I'll look that up soon and add that to this listing as soon as I know what it is.  Each part does have its own part number on the bag that it's in.

Photos 22-23 show one of the booklets in the box and has been in Photo 23 displayed to a table that shows which part/model numbered AC adapter works with which Motorola charging base in what kind of electrical "environment".  For example, it shows that the AC adapters included with each set are designed to power up the included charging base when used in typical USA 110-120VAC electrical setups.

FREE "ECONOMY CLASS" SHIPPING (GOOD CHANCE YOU'LL GET A FREE UPGRADE TO FASTER "STANDARD CLASS" SHIPPING)

eBay defines "Economy Class" (we generally use "FedEx Smartpost" when shipping via Economy Class) as a shipping method that should result in a delivery within 9 business days of the date of shipment.  Add our one day handling time and that means the time between date of payment and the expected date of delivery will be a total of 10 to 11 days.  But see good news in the next paragraph.

eBay defines "Standard Class" shipping as meaning a shipping service that is supposed to get a buyer's item to them within 5 business days after being given to the shipper by the ebay seller (plus, in our case, our standard 1 business day after payment handling time between payment date and shipment date).  So there is always a good chance that items will be delivered sooner via "Standard Class" than via "Economy Class."  In our experience, most items that could be shipped by "Economy Class" can instead be shipped via "Standard Class" (usually meaning FedEx Ground, FedEx Home Delivery, or UPS Ground; our choice in any case, based on what's the least expensive method for the same amount of cost at our end).  If we can ship via Standard Class rather than Economy Class, for equal or less money, we'll always upgrade the buyer to Standard Class, at no cost to the buyer.

In some cases we might even be able to upgrade you to USPS Priority Mail without charging for the upgrade.  That only applies if using USPS Priority Mail would cost us the same, or less, than either "Standard Shipping" or "Economy Shipping" class methods would, and only applies to orders where we could ship all lots in a single shipping box or bag.  Due to the weight of just a single "lot" consisting of a single pair of these sets (between 5 and 6 pounds, not including any outside packaging we'd be using or any other packing materials), this free upgrade isn't likely to work for almost all who might buy these, since we're on the West Coast and most of our customers over the past 25+ years have been from out of state.  And the more someone buys, thereby increasing the weight and dimensions of a shipment, the less likely there would be cost savings (or no difference in our cost) would result in shipping cost savings at our end.

If, however, you're very close to our San Francisco Bay Area location, our providing "Free Local Pickup" (details further below; must specify that option during "eBay Checkout") would be an excellent option to shipping, in terms of getting these fast after purchase, and being able to inspect them before leaving with them.

EXPEDITED SHIPPING VIA USPS PRIORITY MAIL FOR $10 EXTRA FOR ONE "LOT" (PAIR), PLUS $4 MORE FOR EACH ADDITIONAL PAIR -- AND WE'LL REFUND ANY UPGRADE CHARGE TO THE EXTENT THAT THIS "STEP INCREASE" APPROACH ENDS UP WITH US GETTING MORE MONEY THAN OUR ACTUAL OUT OF POCKET COST

You can decide at time of checkout to pay $10 extra for us to ship a single lot (pair) of these via USPS Priority Mail if you're in a hurry (and want to be sure that we'll use Priority Mail instead of a likely slower -- possibly days slower, depending on circumstances -- alternative allowed by the terms of this listing).  The same provision on this listing provides for a "step increase" of $4 per lot (pair).  So, if buying 1 lot (1 pair of sets), you'd pay a $10 fee to upgrade to Priority Mail.  If buying 2 lots (2 pairs of sets), you'd pay $14 to upgrade to Priority Mail; $18 total to upgrade on 3 lots; and so on.

If you do pay for that upgrade fee, we will look at what our total cost turns out to be, for shipping all purchased lots in a single shipping bag or box.  If for example you paid $18 for us to ship 3 lots, but our out of pocket cost, not counting what we'd have to pay anyway for "Standard" shipping, is less than $18, we'd refund the difference.

Example:  If it would cost us $25 (that's a random number; our actual cost to ship 3 of these lots would vary depending on how far away shipment would be) to ship 3 lots by free "Standard" shipping, and would cost us $35 to ship via Priority Mail, that would mean we'd only have to pay the USPS $10 more than the $25 "Standard" shipping cost to ship your purchase via Priority Mail.  You would have paid us $18 to get the upgrade.  $18 (paid by you) less $10 (the net cost for upgrading you) = $8, and that's what you'd get as a refund (for 3 lots).

Please note that we are referring here to "USPS Priority Mail" for that $5 upgrade, not the much more expensive "USPS Priority Mail Express" service (formerly known as "Express Mail") where such an upgrade would cost around $20 (that's my best recollection; I almost never ship anything via "Priority Mail Express").

FREE LOCAL PICKUP (BY APPOINTMENT ONLY):  PLEASE READ IF YOU WANT TO PICK THIS UP FROM US AT NO CHARGE TO YOU OTHER THAN YOUR PURCHASE PRICE (plus tax if added by eBay):

If you want the Free Local Pickup option, it is much better to make that choice during "ebay checkout" before you finish and pay.  Ebay used to be very strict about that, though apparently it is now possible, if done very soon after purchase, to arrange with the seller for a local pickup, confirmed in writing by messages between buyer and seller so that ebay will be able to review those messages and decide if to approve an after-the-fact decision by the buyer to want the "local pickup" option, rather than the otherwise automatic choice by eBay of shipping if no other choice was made before Checkout was complete, to apply.

Since I almost always my listings set up to have a one business day turnaround time between date of payment and date of shipment (this will sometimes be temporarily seen as 2 or more days, usually because I will be out of town for a few days and won't be able to ship as quickly as usual after a purchase), any post-payment wish to change your choice on this topic has to be done quickly so that I don't get a "ding" on my timely shipments record for not shipping as fast as the listing says I would do, that I then have to spend what would could be an hour or more on the phone, trying to get ebay to remove.

And one more thing:  We're a small outfit that does not have an always-available pickup or customer service department, so pickups must be by appointment only.  Please don't show up unannounced and assume you can be helped.  We're reasonable people at this end, however, as our feedback should show, so if we work together, setting up an appointment, possibly including evenings and weekends depending on our mutual schedules at the time of purchase, that works for all should not be difficult.  Thanks!

RETURNS IN GENERAL:

Please be sure to save all shipping and packing materials (box, padding, etc.) for the length of the potential return period, in the event a return is to take place.  If you have any questions at all about the condition of the materials, however, please contact us first to confirm that we would authorize you to re-use those materials in returning an item to us, since sometimes those materials get chewed up enough during initial delivery that they need to be repaired or replaced before being re-used.

BUYER NO-FAULT RETURNS:

30 calendar day return time, running from date of first attempt at delivery by the chosen shipper to your ebay verified shipping address, if you return these for any or no reason in the same condition as sent, at your expense.  However, if you do something that causes one of these to fail in use, e.g., if you spill your drink into a charger base, causing the base and/or the attached AC adapter to short out and die, that would be a good example of something that would not qualify as a "BUYER NO-FAULT RETURN".

CLAIMED SELLER FAULT RETURNS:

Ebay lets you return almost anything within 30 days after receiving it, if what was purchased is not what the listing represented it to be, no matter what limitations a seller may try to put on the reasons for return (and many do).  Please see exact details as provided by eBay at the top of this listing.  To the extent that ebay allows it, you must use a shipping class and type that costs no more than what we used to ship your item(s) to you.
