******GM installed this 1227165 ECM in a variety of GM applications. This was possible because each model received their specific PROM (also known as chip) from the factory. In other words, you can't simply swap a used ECM from one vehicle to the next unless you match the SERVICE NO of 1227165 and replace the PROM (also known as chip) with the one from your vehicle. You will need to remove the two bolt cover on your computer and remove the PROM and install the PROM (also known as a chip) into the replacement computer and install your prom cover. No special tools are required to do this. The PROM is what holds the vehicle specific programming so you must reuse your PROM. If you need PROM or PROM cover we do offer them separately.
