This listing is for a Vintage Vega C-76 Archtop Electric Guitar. This guitar was made in the late 1930's or early 1940's. The serial # is 40281. The guitar is a lovely vintage large body Archtop guitar. To the best of my knowledge this guitar was originally a fully acoustic model and someone added a great sounding Vintage DeArmond Dynasonic that would typically be found on a Gretsch from the 1950's.
The guitar is a very good playing and sounding guitar but is quite old so it obviously has issues so please review the full description and message with questions but overall this is a great guitar and has some nice restoration work done to keep it playing and sounding great.
The guitar is set up very well with comfortable low action. The guitar plays well up and down the neck The guitar was fairly recently refretted so the frets are in great shape. As I mentioned early the DeArmond Dyna-Sonic pickup was added later and the bridge, knobs and pickguard appear to have been added at that time. I believe the tailpiece is original. The tuners are changed.
The back of the neck has been refinished or oversprayed but the body has the original natural-blond finish. The guitar features some absolutely lovely inlay work on the fretboard and headstock. The inlays on the fretboard remain in very good shape but the original inlays on the headstock have mostly fallen out and been replaced over the years. Some of the headstock inlays were replaced with a putty of some sort.
The guitar has a few repaired cracks. Specifically there are some cracks around the knobs and F-holes. There are no headstock or neck cracks and it's safe to assume the neck has been reset more than once in the past.
This is a great pre-war vintage Archtop guitar and while it shows wear from age it's a lovely playing and sounding instrument.
The guitar comes with a non original hardshell case and will be expertly packed for safe shipping.
