Here’s a beautiful piece of jazz-era craftsmanship — a 1928 Paramount Style A tenor banjo, all original, including tailpiece, tuners, flange, resonator, and case. Serial number 13199 dates it to 1928, and it still sounds as good as it looks — bright, punchy tone with great projection.
This is not a parts build or a frankenbanjo — every bit of hardware is original, including the Grover tuners and Paramount tailpiece. It’s been stored well and cared for over the decades. It has one broken string but is otherwise fully playable and holding tune. The frets are in solid shape, and the head has life left in it. If you’re a collector or a Dixieland player, this is a legit find. Has been in my family since original purchase.
Comes in the original hardshell case (green plush interior), along with:
• The original tuning wrench
• A vintage leather strap
• An empty Black Diamond string envelope — just a cool period piece for display
Great for a collector, trad jazz player, or anyone who appreciates what Wm. L. Lange was doing with Paramount during the golden age of banjos. These are getting harder to find in fully original condition.
