This is an antique early-1900s lorgnette folding spectacles or possibly opera glasses made by Hardy Bros. The glass lenses are folded inside the handle and when you press the release button, the glasses automatically spring out and unfold in one quick swift motion.
On the inside there is a stamp that reads "Hardy" and above that is a very fine mark in a circle that says "Sterling" on the outer edge of the circle. I tried to take a photo but it's just too hard to get the angle right, but you can definitely see it with a magnifying glass.
The design is very Victorian with an almost art nouveau style of lily pads on a pond. It measures 5.25" tall. The lenses are 4" across. Everything works good and is in excellent condition. The entire lorgnette weighs 1.2 oz.
