This is an original inspection certificate from April 1893 from the Edison Electric Light Company of Lancaster, Pennsyvania, certifying that the work and wiring at this location has passed the "requirements of the Underwriters' Association of the Middle Department". This is a good 4 years before the National Electric Code was issued! How did this survive all these years? Got me! The house that this certificate covers is still around (looks quite nice). Who knows, maybe there are some early incandescent lamps or fixtures from this early period hiding in the attic or basement......Stranger things have happened ( I found an arc lamp this way back in the late 1970s).
Size of the old frame is 8-3/4" x 6-3/4" on the outside dimensions.
Good luck & thanks for looking !
