Here's an early smooth base paneled
berry bottle from the 1860s or 1870s......it has 10 scalloped panels around
upper half of bottle....Hand blown in mold..... smooth
base...big square ring collar.....aqua.....round with
panels around upper half.....11 1/2"tall....it has a chip on top of lip & a couple small natural "splits" in the top of lip from when it was made; A dug bottle with haze & some surface roughness from being buried in wet soil for over 140 years. These tall paneled bottles were usually
sold with blackberries or huckleberries so are referred to by collectors
as "berry" bottles ....
