Great original Civil War document General Orders No. 60. War Department Adjutant General's Office, Washington, February 18, 1864 regarding the Court Martial of Private Jonas Aikins, Company H, 1st South Carolina Volunteers, charged with "Mutinous Conduct" stating amongst other things "I would like to shoot every white officer", etc. Found guilty on all charges and sentenced "To be shot to death with musketry,..." but by the President commuted "To confinement at hard labor, at Fort Clinch, Amelia Island, Florida, for twelve months...". 2 pages. Disbound. Measures 7 1/4" x 4 3/4". Fascinating Civil War document. 

In excellent condition. Clean & bright. Four small holes along left margin where bound. Paper is not musty or brittle. Smoke-free home.
