The strength of these billboard tarps comes from the durable vinyl material measured at 11 mils, more than twice the thickness of a regular blue poly tarp from a big box store. A standard blue tarp weighs approximately 4 oz. per square yard; our tarps weigh 9 ounces per square yard! Additionally, poly tarps are woven and only water-resistant. Vinyl tarps are coated on both sides and truly waterproof.
