  • This Adapter is Not for RV use! This adapter is intended for electric car charging and therefore does not have a neutral connection. Please make sure it will work for your intended application before purchasing.
  • If you are looking for an adapter to power your electric clothes dryer, a welder, a kiln or some other appliance please search for model number FX585
  • This EV adapter has been designed for use with portable EV Chargers. The neutral is not used by EV chargers – it’s only used for 120 volt applications such as the timer on an electric dryer. All you need to do is plug it in and set your charging current to 24 amps.

  • This adapter makes use of two separate 125 Volt outlets (Standard Home Electrical Outlets) to produce 250 Volts 30 Amp power source. 
  • Featuring a NEMA 10-30R receptacle this adapter is compatible with most appliances and power tools that feature a NEMA 10-30P Plug. (However, if you have a portable Tesla or EVSE charger that is using a NEMA 10-30P style plug you will want to order the EV version of this same adapter FX585-EV.)

Before purchasing this adapter you should beware of how it functions, and what sort of environments might inhibit you from effectively using it.

For starters if you plug either of the two NEMA 5-15 Plugs into an outlet(s) that are GFCI protected it will definitely pop the breaker. So if you will need to have access to two circuits that are NOT GFCI protected to use this adapter. 

In addition, you will have to identify two different outlets that are fed from opposite sides of your breaker panel. Typically your electrical panel has two 125 Volt circuits that are "out of phase" from one another, when combining the two it will create a 250 Volt circuit. (However, combining two 125 volt circuits that are NOT "out of phase" or in other words not fed from opposite bus bars you will NOT get 250 volts.)

A simple method for ensuring if the two outlets you intend to use will work, is to plug a table lamp or some sort of light into each. Turn the lamps on and have someone watching them. Then go to your breaker panel flip the breakers on one side of your breaker panel off. Hopefully only one of the lamps shuts off while the other lamp remains on. If both lamps remain on or both lamps shut off it means you will need to choose at least one different power outlet and repeat the process.
