Features of Rainbow Aurora Borealis Obsidian:
Color palette: Typically jet black base with bright flashes or bands of green, purple, gold, pink, orange, and occasionally blue. Colors appear in thin layers or swirling patterns when held at the correct angle.

Patterns: Displays flowing, layered bands or “sheen” with shifting colors under direct light. The iridescent effect is highly sought after and unique to certain Glass Butte deposits.

Hardness: Around 5–5.5 on the Mohs scale.
