$100.0
Original, century-old antique prescriptions from 1899serially numbered from 108201 to 108300. They were filled at a pharmacy in Brenham, Texas.

The packet is held together with its original staples/clips. It was a common practice for pharmacists to serially number prescriptions and compile them in groups of 100.

These are all original prescriptions from 1899

Several prescriptions have a handwritten date, like "12-28-99" on #108300.
Some use Roman numerals for the month, like 25/XII for December 25, 1899, on #108257 & #108258.

Many of the prescriptions are written on a pad with 189_ preprinted on the bottom:
#108205
#108233
#108247
#108250

The packet contains:
3 Chloranodyne scrips (108204, 108218, 108238)
6 Opium
scrips (108202 w/ Belladonna, 108229, 108230 for child, 108245, 108293, 108295)
Brandy (Spiritus Vini Gallici - 108269, 108293)

Several poisons (Quinine, Belladonna, Strychnine, Chloroform)
Calomel (#108246), widely used but taken off market for risk of mercury poisoning

Chlor-Anodyne (Parke Davis) included morphine, cannabis and chloroform in its ingredients

The filling pharmacy and great majority of prescribing doctors were in Brenham, Texas.

Ideal for collectors of pharmacy ephemera. In my experience, I rarely come across prescriptions for Chlorodyne or Chlor-Anodyne... and this lot of a hundred scripts contains THREE!
