My HB Marans line has been built over the last 20 years from 4 Original foundational Imported French Black Copper Marans Lines, brought here to the US prior to 2005 when I started my breeding journey with them. I have kept my lines pure and continued to breed them conscientiously with the goal of improving them to meet and maintain the French Standard of perfection for both confirmation and egg quality.
I have bred for temperament as well and have so many happy stories from over the years about the friendliness of my birds and the joy they bring people. Lots of people have successfully shown my birds as well.
The last out cross was with Little Peddlers Marans in 2017. I waited on a list for two spring seasons to get my eggs from Brenda Little. Brenda was also the founder of The Marans of America club and worked very hard to get this breed and variety accepted into the APA in 2011 as did all my foundation line owners. Her eggs were $20 each and her babies were $100 each.
I’ve worked hard over the years on my flock. When I hatch out new Marans I only select the very best quality chickens that meet the French Marans S.O.P. standard of perfection. Then have grown those birds out to see how they develop & what they lay if they are hens. Then again select only the darkest laying girls to stay and be breeders in my flock.
I only raise & breed F.B.C.M. I have exclusively worked to maintain and improve my flock of birds for many years. I enjoying sharing my lovely eggs/ birds with people who appreciate this breed.
Please remember darkness of eggs varies with Marans according to where they are in their laying cycles and their age, as you can plainly see in my egg pictures.
It’s the genetics in the eggs you are buying.
All MY birds have been hatched from very dark eggs every year and have the potential to pass that on to their offspring no matter the color of her eggs at the time of your purchase and where she’s at in her laying cycle.
Please be realistic and don’t expect all eggs to be super dark and do not expect all the eggs to hatch. Black Copper Marans eggs are notoriously harder to hatch than typical breed chicken. You assume the risk when purchasing.
I can not control the handling from the shipping or your incubation process and equipment.
Shipping can be hard on them but taking that risk allows us the opportunity to try to hatch birds we may otherwise be unable to obtain.
ATTENTION:
please take into consideration your weather. If it is super hot or cold where they are going it may not be a good time for you to buy eggs via the mail. Unless you want to take that chance.
If you would like to pick your eggs up at your local post office to avoid them traveling around even more in your local mail truck till they get to your house, you will need to contact your local United States post office with your tracking number that will be provide to you after I ship, tell them to hold them and give them your number to call you.
Please let your eggs rest at least 8 hours with the air sac end up before incubation. Wash your hands before handling them and make sure you have a properly sanitized and calibrated incubator!
